A second useful workflow is personal recall with a narrow query boundary. Instead of asking a system to summarize an entire day, ask for the names of books mentioned, decisions involving a particular project, or promises assigned to the wearer. Bee makes the experiment cheap

At $49.99, Bee costs $129.01 less than Omi and Plaud. That changes the risk of the purchase. A buyer can learn whether ambient memory fits daily life without committing to a $179 pendant plus a future plan.

Bee lists dual microphones with noise filtering, a physical button to start and stop capture, up to seven days per charge, and support for 40 languages. It connects to Google Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts. Those integrations allow a recap to use more context than the microphone alone, but they also widen the data boundary.

The physical button matters. Ambient does not have to mean uncontrollable. A visible, habitual stop action can protect a sensitive conversation, create a social cue, and prevent a day from becoming one undifferentiated recording stream. The control is useful only if the wearer remembers to use it.

Run a usefulness test before ambient capture becomes a habit

During the first week, define one narrow reason for wearing Bee, such as remembering personal commitments or producing an evening recap. At the end of each day, mark which recalled item changed an action. A perfect transcript of things you already remembered is not useful output.

Track the correction burden as well. If each recap requires reassigning speakers, removing private material, or repairing context, the low hardware price may be buying a recurring editing task. If several concrete reminders reliably survive a busy day, the device has found a job.

If you buy it expecting tasks, formal minutes, or a durable knowledge base, you are buying against the product's category.

That narrower promise can still be meaningful. A companion that notices a frustrating commute, a repeated worry, or a small success is qualitatively different from opening a general chatbot and supplying context manually. The wearable reduces the effort of narrating the day. It also collects the context that makes the response feel personal, which is precisely why the privacy decision is unusually important.

The same addendum says those providers are contractually barred from selling the data, using it for advertising, or training their own models without explicit user consent. That protection applies to the named providers. Friend's broader privacy policy separately says user content may be used to train Friend's own models.

This distinction matters: "the provider cannot train on it" is not the same as "the product company cannot use it for model training." Buyers should read both layers.

The easiest mental model is a switchboard. Friend is the service the wearer sees, but a request can be routed to Google, OpenAI, or xAI depending on the feature and operating decision. The addendum restricts what those providers may do with the routed data. Friend's own policy governs what Friend may do. Reading only one document leaves half of the route unexplained.
