Gumloop vs n8n (Verified October 2026)
Gumloop vs n8n: current pricing, credits vs executions, self-hosting and the same AI lead workflow, with a verdict for each builder.

Gumloop vs n8n: choose Gumloop for an operator-owned AI workflow, and n8n for a developer-owned system or a server you control. Gumloop Pro starts at $37/month; n8n Cloud Starter costs $24/month, or $20/month billed annually, while self-hosted Community is free software.
Gumloop vs n8n: Which Should You Pick?
Gumloop wins when the person responsible for the business process should also build and change its AI automation. n8n wins when someone needs to own the workflow logic, integrations and deployment. The deciding criteria are builder, hosting and billing unit, in that order.
- Non-technical operator or sales team: pick Gumloop for an agent that enriches leads, applies your qualification instructions and posts a handoff.
- Technical operator who wants managed hosting: pick n8n Cloud for explicit workflow steps without maintaining a server.
- Developer who needs their own infrastructure: pick n8n Community for an internally operated system, provided its missing collaboration features fit your team.
- Company needing shared administration and governance: compare the paid editions before choosing. Gumloop Enterprise and n8n Business or Enterprise solve different deployment and access requirements.
Prices and plan features were verified on 7 October 2026 against Gumloop's live pricing page and n8n's live pricing page, including n8n's monthly/annual controls and execution-tier dropdowns. The dollar amounts here are n8n's US regional prices, not converted euro amounts.
Who Builds It: Gumloop for Operators, n8n for Developers
Gumloop wins the operator handoff; n8n wins explicit implementation control. Ask who will change the qualification rules when sales changes its definition of a good lead, and who will repair an expired credential when the automation stops.
Gumloop is an AI agent platform: you give an assistant instructions and connected tools, and it decides how to complete a task. Its documented setup starts with connectors, a concrete task, and refinements saved into instructions or a reusable skill. A skill is a saved process the agent can follow on future tasks. For a sales operator, that puts the business rules close to the person who understands them. Gumloop agent documentation.
That freedom also creates a boundary. “Research this lead” can produce different tool calls and different spending from one lead to another. If your process requires exactly the same sequence each time, describe those rules explicitly and verify that the agent follows them.
Gumloop Reviews: The Intake Limits That Matter
Gumloop's trigger behavior matters more than a generic ease-of-use rating when leads arrive in bursts. Its docs state that a new trigger execution is skipped if a previous execution is still running. They also say three consecutive failed runs disable a trigger and notify its owner. Treat these as operating requirements for an intake system, rather than assuming every event waits in a queue. Gumloop trigger documentation.
For an inbound campaign, inspect what happens when leads arrive while enrichment is still running. Keep a recoverable source of incoming leads, and assign someone to failure notifications. A good answer from the agent does not establish that every lead reached it.
n8n vs Gumloop: When the Developer Wins
n8n is a visual workflow builder where nodes are individual steps, such as receiving a webhook, calling an API or sending a message. A webhook is a URL another application calls when an event happens. You can put enrichment before scoring, define the fields passed between them, and keep the Slack post as a separate action.
For a builder, this makes the process easier to inspect as a sequence of inputs and outputs. n8n's HTTP Request node calls external APIs, while its AI nodes can sit inside the sequence. The judgment is straightforward: choose n8n when maintaining that sequence is part of your job. Choose Gumloop when maintaining the business instructions is the job you want to keep.
Neither choice removes credential management or failure handling. Managed n8n Cloud removes server maintenance; it still leaves you responsible for the workflow.
Gumloop Pricing and n8n Pricing Today
Gumloop has a Pro-to-Enterprise ladder; n8n has managed Cloud tiers and separate self-hosted editions. Compare the current offers before comparing usage. An execution allowance and a credit allowance do not buy the same thing.
Gumloop: Pro and Enterprise
Gumloop Pro starts at $37/month and includes 20,000 credits per month, unlimited agents, seats and teams, and access to 35+ models. The pricing FAQ breaks that grant into 7,400 regular credits plus 12,600 bonus credits. It resets monthly rather than accumulating.
Pro's page lists 25 concurrent agent chats and 5 concurrent workflow runs. It labels the workflow section “Workflows (Legacy)”. That label is relevant if you are following an older node-based tutorial: the new implementation below uses the maker's current agent-and-trigger documentation.
Enterprise has custom pricing, custom credits and concurrency, organization-wide governance, and optional Virtual Private Cloud deployment. Get a quote for those requirements; the Pro fee does not establish their cost. Both tiers support collaboration and shared credentials. Current Gumloop plans and FAQs.

Gumloop offers a 14-day Pro trial. Its credit docs say the trial requires a card and becomes a paid subscription unless cancelled. Pro agents stop when the grant runs out unless you enable pay as you go, which is off by default; additional usage then bills at $0.005 per credit. Enterprise credit arrangements can differ, including rollover. Gumloop credit and trial rules.
n8n: The Full US Pricing Ladder
n8n Starter and Pro run on n8n's cloud. Business is self-hosted only; Enterprise can be hosted by n8n or self-hosted. The table includes the selectable execution quantities, rather than treating the first Pro or Business price as the whole offer. Annual prices are the page's displayed monthly equivalents with an annual commitment. n8n pricing.
Pro and Business also offer Custom plan / Custom executions in their dropdowns. The pricing page advertises 50% off Business for eligible startups; eligibility includes fewer than 20 employees and, on the linked startup page, less than €5M in funding. That is a qualification-based discount, not a general additional price tier. n8n startup eligibility.

Starter has one shared project and five concurrent executions. Pro has three shared projects, with 20 concurrent executions at 10,000 and 50 at 50,000. Starter's maximum execution duration is five minutes, versus 40 minutes on Pro. All plans include unlimited users and workflows. These boundaries can decide the tier even before you reach the monthly execution allowance. n8n plan limits.
For example, a workflow with slow enrichment might need Pro for execution duration. A governed self-hosted team might need Business for single sign-on (SSO), projects, environments or Git version control. Business is a governance purchase, not the automatic next step after Cloud Pro.
n8n's Cloud trial requires no card and includes 1,000 executions. The Business trial provides full Business features for 14 days and requires a card. Our n8n pricing guide expands the execution-budget and server-ownership decision; use the dated prices above for the current shortlist.
What One Credit and One Execution Mean
A Gumloop credit pays for work consumed. An n8n execution counts a workflow run. Counting the boxes in the canvas will not produce an equivalent bill.
Gumloop values one credit at $0.005. Agent spending combines:
- Chat & Reasoning: model tokens, converted from provider cost into credits.
- Tool Calls: at least one credit per successful connector call, plus any tool-specific charge. Failed connector calls are not charged.
- Compute: five credits per active session-minute, with a minimum of one credit per response.
- Orchestration: normally 8% of those components, with whole-credit rounding.
Slack reads and writes incur the base connector charge; enrichment and scraping services can add their own charges. A longer model conversation or extra research calls can therefore change the cost of the same business job. The monthly Pro grant includes bonus credits, so its subscription price is not the list valuation multiplied by the included allowance. Gumloop billing definitions.
n8n defines an execution as one run of the entire workflow, regardless of its number of steps or the data processed. Paid quotas count production runs. Manual editor runs, sub-workflow runs and error workflows do not consume that quota; a sub-workflow called by a parent is covered by the top-level execution.
For webhook intake, each inbound request that activates the workflow counts. An empty request can count too; a malformed request rejected before the workflow starts does not. You cannot equate “successful sales handoffs” with the execution count unless your intake and failure behavior support that assumption. n8n execution accounting.
The n8n subscription still leaves runtime model and enrichment costs to account for. Depending on the configuration, those go to your providers directly or through n8n's Gateway credits.
AI Agents: Gumloop Wins on Setup, n8n on Workflow Control
Gumloop wins for configuring an agent as the main application. n8n wins for inserting bounded AI behavior into a workflow you control. Both offer model choice and ways to use your own provider credentials.
Gumloop AI Agent: Models and Bring Your Own Key
Gumloop agents combine instructions, connectors and reusable skills. You can select Auto, which routes model choice, the Recommended or Smartest presets, or a specific model from providers including Anthropic, OpenAI and Google. For a qualification workflow, pin a model when consistent behavior and budgeting matter more than automatic selection. Gumloop model options.
Bring your own key, usually shortened to BYOK, means supplying credentials for your own model-provider account. On current usage-based Pro or higher pricing, eligible model calls then consume zero model credits, while you pay that provider directly. Pro supports personal or shared team keys; Enterprise adds organization-level keys and custom proxy support.
For agent nodes specifically, distinguish the current products: n8n documents an AI Agent node; Gumloop's current setup docs center configured agents and their triggers, while its pricing page labels workflows Legacy. A recipe for a new Gumloop automation should follow that current agent surface rather than assume old node settings still apply.
n8n: Agent Nodes, Model Choice and Optional No-key AI
n8n's AI Agent node connects a chat model and at least one tool. The model decides which tool to call. That is useful when a lead needs adaptive research. When enrichment and scoring follow a fixed sequence, a Basic LLM Chain, which runs a defined prompt with an optional output parser, is the narrower choice. AI Agent node, Basic LLM Chain.
n8n has chat-model nodes for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini and Ollama. You can configure your own provider credentials; Ollama connects to an Ollama model endpoint.
Cloud Starter and Pro also support Gateway credits on supported nodes, allowing runtime AI without a provider account or API key. Gateway credits are unavailable on Cloud Enterprise and self-hosted n8n. They pay for model and supported tool usage inside workflows. n8n Gateway availability and billing.
Do not confuse them with Assistant credits, which pay for n8n's workflow-building assistant. Starter includes 1,600 Assistant credits per month; Pro includes 4,000 or 9,600, depending on the tier. Those allowances do not make production lead scoring free. This separation is the financial boundary to understand before budgeting an AI workflow. n8n's pricing and credit allowances.
The Same Workflow: New Inbound Lead, Enrich, Score, Post to Slack
Both tools can implement this job; the difference is whether an agent or an explicit workflow owns the sequence. The following configurations combine maker-documented components. They are proposed implementations, not a claim that these workflows were deployed or benchmarked.
Use the same incoming lead record on both: name, email, company domain and the inquiry. The intended result is a Slack handoff containing enriched company information, a High / Medium / Low qualification, a reason and the information supporting it. Those labels are your proposed business rubric, not a vendor-provided scoring model.
Build It on Gumloop
Gumloop uses a webhook-triggered agent with enrichment and Slack connectors.
Connect the tools and set the qualification instructions
Add the Apollo and Slack connectors to an agent. Apollo's MCP catalog supports enriching people and companies; Slack's catalog supports posting messages. MCP is a standard way to expose an application's tools to an agent. Give the agent your qualification rules and tell it to report missing information rather than invent it. Apollo tools, Slack tools.
Choose the model and constrain the actions
Select a model in the Agent tab. Use the connector's Custom approval settings to allow the intended Slack posting tool and restrict unrelated actions. Require approval where the workflow should stop for review. An unattended handoff needs the intended action permitted without waiting for a person. Gumloop tool permissions.
Add the incoming-lead webhook
Open Triggers > Add trigger > Webhook. Include the Raw JSON request body in the trigger prompt, or send the payload directly when the agent instructions already define the task. Tell it to enrich the lead, apply the rubric and post the agreed fields to the designated Slack channel.
Check the handoff, spending and burst behavior
Inspect the enrichment source, qualification reason, Slack destination and credit breakdown. Check leads arriving close together against the documented overlap rule, and give failure notifications an owner before relying on this for campaign intake.
On Pro: this uses an agent, a trigger, model usage and connector tools against the shared 20,000-credit grant. It is not a fixed number of credits per lead. On Enterprise: the same core job uses the negotiated credit arrangement; choose that tier for required organization governance or deployment options. Neither plan justifies assuming a specific complete-workflow credit count.
Build It on n8n
n8n uses Webhook → HTTP Request → Basic LLM Chain → Slack. The fixed order makes enrichment and the final write explicit.
Receive the lead
Create a Webhook node for the incoming event. Use its test URL while building and the production URL for the published workflow. Pass the lead's fields into the next step. n8n Webhook node.
Enrich through the provider API
Use HTTP Request to call your enrichment provider with its supported authentication and the lead identifier. Map the returned company and person fields explicitly. The provider's service charges sit outside n8n's execution fee; do not copy Gumloop's connector-credit rate into this budget.
Score with a defined output
Use Basic LLM Chain with a selected chat-model sub-node. Put the qualification rubric in the prompt and enable Require Specific Output Format with a structured output parser. Ask for the qualification label, supporting reason and missing fields. Use your provider key, or Gateway credits on a supported Cloud node.
Send the handoff
Configure the Slack node's Message > Send operation, select the channel and map the qualified lead fields into the message. If research needs dynamic tool selection, substitute an AI Agent with the required tools for the bounded AI step; keep the final handoff boundary explicit. n8n Slack operations.
On Starter: this is one production execution per incoming request that starts the workflow, inside its 2,500-execution allowance, subject to its concurrency and duration limits. Model and enrichment spend is additional. On Pro: the same workflow uses the larger 10,000 or 50,000 allowance and higher operating limits.
On Community: the core workflow runs on your infrastructure with your model and enrichment credentials; there is no paid Cloud allowance to assign to it. On Business or Enterprise: the workflow uses the paid execution arrangement, with access and governance features determining whether the license is necessary. Self-hosting does not turn third-party services into free services.

The Cost of the Same 1,000 Leads
At 1,000 leads per month, n8n's lower entry fee wins only while its additional runtime bill stays below the crossover. Gumloop's included services can reverse that result, provided the complete workload stays within its credit grant.
This is budget arithmetic using the verified prices, not a measured credit or token benchmark. Assume one incoming lead per activated webhook request, one top-level n8n workflow containing all the steps, and no other account usage. That means 1,000 production executions on n8n, within Starter.
Let C be the actual total Gumloop credits billed for those leads. Let P be n8n's actual model and enrichment bill for the same workload, paid directly to providers or through applicable Gateway usage.
- Gumloop Pro with managed services: $37 if C stays within 20,000 credits. If pay as you go is enabled, the total becomes $37 + $0.005 × max(0, C − 20,000). Any services you pay directly through your own keys need adding separately.
- n8n Starter, monthly commitment: $24 + P.
- n8n Starter, annual commitment: $20 + P per month, with the annual plan commitment.
The plan-fee portion at that workload is therefore $0.037 per lead for Gumloop, $0.024 for monthly n8n Starter and $0.020 for annual Starter. These are our calculated allocations of the plan fees, not the makers' per-lead prices or a complete runtime quote.
If Gumloop stays inside its grant, monthly n8n crosses its $37 total when P reaches $13/month, equivalent to $0.013 per lead. On the annual n8n price, the crossover is $17/month, or $0.017 per lead. Below those thresholds, n8n is cheaper in this scenario; above them, Gumloop is cheaper while its grant still covers the work.

There is no universal credit-to-execution exchange rate. A lead that needs extra research changes C and P differently. Beyond 2,500 production executions, n8n's entry Cloud tier no longer covers the workload; Pro changes the plan-fee component. Other agents and workflows also consume the shared allowances.
Billing winner: n8n for bounded workflows with a low separate service bill; Gumloop when included managed usage covers the job at a lower total. Use the cost breakdown from the proposed workflow, not an assumed number of AI calls.
Self-hosting: n8n Wins Control, Community Loses Team Sharing
n8n wins when the workflow engine needs to run on infrastructure you control. Its Community edition is free software running the same underlying product, but it is not the paid collaboration edition with the license fee removed.
According to n8n's Community edition documentation, it lacks:
- Projects and sharing: workflow and credential sharing are excluded; access is limited to the owner and creator.
- Team identity: SSO through SAML or LDAP.
- Managed configuration: custom variables, multiple environments and Git version control.
- Operations and secrets: external secret stores, external binary-data storage, log streaming and multi-main mode.
Ordinary logging and queue mode are included. Multi-main, which allows multiple main instances, is a different feature from queue mode. Free registration adds folders, debug in editor and custom execution data.
For a developer owning the lead workflow alone, Community can fit well. For a sales-operations team that needs several people to share and maintain credentials and workflows, those exclusions change the purchase. Business includes paid self-hosted collaboration and governance; Enterprise adds more advanced controls. Check each required feature against the paid plan, rather than assuming every omitted Community feature arrives on the first paid tier.
Your server, backups, updates, monitoring and external services remain part of the operating cost. The makers' pages do not establish one universal server price, so none is added to this comparison. n8n self-hosting documentation.
Gumloop's public ladder offers managed cloud and an optional Enterprise Virtual Private Cloud arrangement. That is a quoted deployment option, rather than a free Community server installation.
One licensing distinction also matters: n8n describes itself as source-available fair-code, under its Sustainable Use License, rather than unrestricted open source. The vendor permits internal business use; making hosted n8n access or embedded workflow building available outside the permitted scope can require a separate agreement. n8n's license explanation.
Switching Between Gumloop and n8n
Migration costs are mostly rebuilding the operating contract, not moving the lead records. Inventory the incoming payload, enrichment fields, qualification instructions, Slack format, credentials, owners, failure recovery and current spending before replacing the tool.
Moving from Gumloop to n8n means turning the agent's process into explicit steps, or recreating it with an AI Agent node and tools. Moving from n8n to Gumloop means translating that sequence into agent instructions, connectors and trigger behavior, then checking that the new agent respects the same qualification and posting boundaries.
Gumloop's agent-version API can retrieve a point-in-time configuration for that inventory. A saved configuration is not a promise of a cross-platform import. Reconnect credentials and redirect the production webhook only after the replacement handoff works as intended.
Do not switch a stable, affordable workflow merely to reduce the entry plan fee. Do switch when its owner cannot maintain it, its deployment violates your requirements, or measured usage makes the current bill unsuitable. Compare the replacement's full bill and operating work against the current system.
n8n vs Make
If the job is mostly explicit application steps and branching, the adjacent n8n vs Make comparison belongs on your shortlist. If the job is finding an agent builder your operators can own, use the broader no-code AI agent builder comparison to expand beyond these two.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is better than n8n?
Gumloop is the better fit when an operator should own an AI task through instructions and connected tools. n8n is the stronger fit when a builder needs explicit workflow logic or self-hosting. The owner and deployment requirement decide before the entry price does.
Is n8n obsolete now?
No. Its current product includes AI Agent nodes, model choice and optional Gateway credits on Cloud Starter and Pro. You can combine agent behavior with ordinary workflow steps rather than choosing between AI and workflow automation.
How much does Gumloop cost per month?
Pro starts at $37/month with 20,000 included credits. Enterprise has custom pricing. Enabled pay-as-you-go usage above the grant bills at $0.005 per credit; services paid directly with your own keys add their own bill.
What are some good alternatives to Gumloop?
n8n is the relevant alternative when workflow control, self-hosting or developer ownership drives the decision. Broaden the shortlist when those criteria do not fit the business job, rather than choosing an alternative by its agent label alone.
What are the best AI automation tools?
For this shortlist, Gumloop fits operator-owned agents and n8n fits builder-owned workflows. First define the incoming event, required output, tool permissions, hosting boundary and owner; then price that job on each platform.
Is Gumloop an n8n alternative?
Yes for overlapping business jobs such as enriching a lead and posting its qualification to Slack. Their current agent surfaces, hosting options and billing units differ, so replacing one with the other involves rebuilding and checking the workflow.
Can I use Gumloop alongside n8n?
Yes. Both document webhook-based intake, so a builder can define a payload boundary between an n8n workflow and a Gumloop agent task. Budget the n8n execution and service charges plus the Gumloop credits, and give failures on both sides an owner.
Your Next Move
Build the lead handoff on the platform its eventual owner can maintain. Inspect the enrichment, qualification reason and Slack output; then check burst arrivals, failed credentials and the cost breakdown before committing the process to unattended operation. That pilot resolves the variable usage that no public pricing ladder can predict.
