Webflow AI
Build a three-page site with Webflow AI, refine it with the Assistant, and connect Claude through MCP. Current features, limits and manual checks.
Published

Webflow AI can turn a business brief into an editable, multi-page website, then help you refine its copy, sections and content. For a founder or small agency, the useful change is where the work starts: you can review a proposed site before assembling every page yourself. You still own the offer, the evidence and the launch decision.
Webflow's February 5, 2026 rebuild brought multi-page structure, styles, animations and a foundational design system into the site-creation flow. It is available across customer tiers, including Enterprise, through New site in the Dashboard. Access to the builder does not remove your plan's page limits. Webflow's launch update.
Choose the AI Tool for the Job
Think of Webflow AI as a workshop with different tools. The site builder lays out the first structure. The in-editor tools help shape individual parts. MCP, short for Model Context Protocol, is the connection that lets an outside AI assistant operate tools inside your Webflow site.
These are distinct entry points, even though Webflow groups its native features under Webflow AI. AI overview, builder requirements, MCP overview.

Turn Webflow AI On in Workspace Settings
A Workspace Owner or Admin must open the relevant Workspace, go to Workspace settings → General, and switch Enable Webflow AI on. On Enterprise, custom roles can also control the Use Webflow AI permission. If the option is missing for a teammate, check both the Workspace toggle and their role. Webflow's admin instructions.
Site generation, section design and contextual help do not consume Webflow AI credits. Copy, CMS item generation, AI code components and AI SEO work do; credits are shared across the Workspace, and usage varies by task. The separately charged add-on currently shown on Webflow's pricing page is 2,000 credits per month for $20/month, billed yearly. Credit rules, Webflow pricing.
Walkthrough: From a Prompt to a Published Three-Page Site
Use a small service business with one clear conversion goal. Our example is Cedar Studio, a fictional brand-design practice seeking project inquiries, with Home, Services and Contact pages.
This is a documented walkthrough, not a hands-on test. No Webflow test site was published for this article; the manual corrections below are prescribed checks, not observed defects.
1. Make Room for Three Pages
A paid Workspace lets you generate all three pages at the start. With a free Workspace and no paid Site plan, start with Home and Contact; after generating the site, add a paid Site plan and create Services through the Pages panel's AI page-generation option. The initial generation supports up to five pages with a paid plan, versus two without one; the automatic style guide is excluded from that two-page limit. For this brochure site's custom-domain launch, Basic is sufficient. Builder limits, Site plan capabilities.
2. Give It a Business Brief
From New site, choose AI Site Builder and enter a prompt like this:
Create a website for Cedar Studio, a small brand-design practice serving independent hospitality businesses. The goal is project inquiries. Use three pages: Home, Services and Contact. Home should explain the offer and introduce the process. Services should explain brand strategy, visual identity and website design. Contact should invite a project brief. Use warm neutral colors, dark readable text and restrained motion. Do not invent clients, testimonials, awards, prices or results. Use “Discuss your project” as the main call to action.
This prompt supplies an audience, an offer and a next action. Replace the fictional details with approved business facts before using it on your own site.
3. Approve the Structure Before Generating the Design
Generate the proposal, remove unwanted pages and arrange the sections. If you are following the free-Workspace route, add Services after the plan upgrade. Keep the finished site focused:
Then generate the site. Refine the shared theme and continue into Webflow. The builder maps requested fonts and colors to its theme system, so exact brand matching needs your attention. Creation and theme workflow.
4. Finish the Parts That Make It Your Business
Treat the draft as material to edit. These are the manual corrections to make wherever the output falls short:
The hardest work is often deciding what the business can honestly promise. An attractive placeholder cannot make that decision for you.
5. Check Search Information and Accessibility
Open the Audit panel and review the whole site. It can find missing image descriptions, page titles, search descriptions and schema, which is structured information about the page. AI-generated suggestions still need checking against the real business. Images inside components, lightboxes and the CMS need separate manual alt-text checks because the Audit panel does not cover them. Audit instructions and limits.
For Cedar Studio, the useful outcome is accurate page information and a usable inquiry path. Do not add services, locations or ratings merely to fill a generated field.
6. Publish to Staging, Then Your Domain
Open Publish, select only the webflow.io staging address and publish to the selected destination. Visit Home, Services and Contact as a visitor and repeat the inquiry test. Fix anything that fails, then republish staging.
For the public launch, connect your own domain in Site settings, verify ownership and select that domain in the publishing menu. Publish, then check the three live URLs and form again. You need the appropriate publishing permission. Webflow's publishing guide.

The business consequence is a different sequence of work. A manual build asks you to assemble structure, styles and page content before reviewing the whole. Here, generation brings that review forward. As a planning allowance, reserve a two-hour working block for the brief, draft and checks, with approved copy and assets ready. That is a suggested work session, not a measured completion time; integration problems or brand revisions can extend it.
Use the In-Editor Assistant for Specific Tasks
The most useful prompts have a small target and a clear acceptance condition.
For help, open the Assistant from the top bar and ask a specific Webflow question. This mode answers from the Help Center. It currently supports English and allows 100 questions per 31 days. Treat its answer as guidance to check. Contextual-help guide.
For a new section, drag a section from the Add panel onto the canvas and open its Assistant controls. Find a suitable layout, choose a generated design and review it in place. It can reuse your classes and variables, the named styles and shared values that keep the design consistent, and create new classes. It cannot update existing classes. Webflow's current section-design documentation still labels this feature public beta and limits it to selected free templates and AI-builder sites. Its output excludes images, components and dynamic content. Section-design guide.
For copy, a designer can right-click a supported text element and choose Modify copy. Try: “Shorten this paragraph while preserving the deliverables and avoiding new claims.” Review each factual change before accepting it. This requires a paid Site or Workspace plan. Copy controls.
Two further features matter as a site grows. AI can generate sample CMS Collection items, meaning entries in a structured content list, on a Site plan with CMS access. It can also create reusable code components, such as calculators, through the Assistant. Code components need a Designer or Site Manager role; publishing them has additional Site and Workspace plan requirements. They do not provide databases, authentication or secret-key management. Keep them outside the basic brochure-site walkthrough unless the project needs them. CMS eligibility, code-component requirements.
Connect Claude When the Work Spans the Site
MCP is useful when the task crosses pages or content records. Webflow documents support for page and layout editing, styles, components, CMS management and publishing. It is available on every Site plan, including Starter; users with the Reviewer role cannot connect. MCP capabilities.
To connect Claude, open a Chat or Code session, use the plus menu to add a connector, find Webflow and connect it. Follow Webflow's authorization flow, select the relevant site and return to Claude. Claude asks for approval before actions by default. Webflow's Claude setup guide.
A useful first request for our example would be:
Read this site's instructions, then review Home, Services and Contact. List inconsistent service names and calls to action. Propose exact replacements using the approved wording below. Show the proposed changes before editing, and leave publishing to me.
This is an example task to try, not a guaranteed audit result. Check the proposed edits against the page yourself.
Most MCP actions can now run without an open Webflow session. Actions tied to your canvas selection still need the MCP Bridge App. Ordinary MCP use draws on the external AI tool's plan or credits, rather than Webflow AI credits. Current MCP operation and limits.
Six Uses, Ranked by Practical Payoff
The strongest uses start with a clear brief and an owner who can judge the result. These are proposed workflows, not measured customer outcomes.
The documented building blocks are Webflow's section tools, Audit panel and MCP actions. The proposed payoffs depend on your review process.
Two Services Worth Building Around It
Demand exists for both building sites and getting help with them. DataForSEO's U.S. English estimates retrieved October 22, 2026 show 33,100 monthly searches for “ai website builder.” That is broad category interest, not demand for one more generic generator.
Strongest: A Launch-and-Handoff Service
Build a repeatable service for founders who want an editable Webflow site with approved content and a verified inquiry path. DataForSEO estimates 480 monthly U.S. searches for “webflow agency.” That measures interest in buying help, although it does not establish how many searchers want this exact package.
The smallest sellable version could serve one business niche, use a structured intake brief, deliver three finished pages and include a recorded editing handoff. The agency could use AI for the draft while owning content accuracy, brand choices and launch testing.
The catch: generating a similar draft is easy for competitors. The defensible work is understanding the niche, getting assets approved and taking responsibility for a clean handoff. Also check Webflow's restriction on sharing Libraries from AI-builder sites before designing a reusable agency system around them. Builder limitations.
Second: An Audit-to-Fix Maintenance Service
Build a service that takes a site owner from identified omissions to reviewed corrections. DataForSEO estimates 320 monthly U.S. searches for “website seo audit.” This is a wider market signal, not a Webflow-specific buyer count.
The first version could combine a Webflow audit, a proposed correction list and a reviewed publishing pass. MCP could support bounded content updates; a human would verify business claims and the final pages. Sell completion and accountability for the agreed work.
The catch: a filled-in description does not guarantee rankings, and automated checks have blind spots. Webflow's own Audit panel excludes some image locations. A useful service must check those gaps and avoid promising search performance. Audit coverage.
Where Webflow AI Stops Helping
Use the builder when you want a new Webflow foundation and can invest in finishing it. For an existing custom site, start with the supported in-editor tools or MCP. Neither gives an agent unlimited control: MCP still lacks some element and CMS-binding settings, while section generation cannot rewrite existing classes. MCP limits, Assistant limits.
Also leave App Gen out of a new project's foundation: Webflow has paused its development and says deprecation is planned. Current AI overview.
If you are still choosing a platform, use Webflow vs Framer for the platform decision, Framer AI for its AI workflow, and the AI website-builder comparison for the broader shortlist.
Is Webflow an AI tool?
Webflow is a website platform with AI tools inside it. The site builder creates a starting site; other features help with copy, sections, content and ongoing work. MCP connects an external assistant to an authorized site. Webflow AI overview.
Can AI build a website?
Yes. Webflow's builder generates an editable website from a description. You still need approved business information, working links and forms, and a publishing check. Follow the three-page example above as a documented workflow. Webflow's builder.
Is Webflow actually free?
There is a free Starter plan with Webflow AI and MCP access, but it has a two-static-page limit. The three-page custom-domain example requires a paid Site plan. Extra AI credits are a separate optional purchase. Webflow pricing.
Your Monday move: gather the approved offer, real images and contact destination. Draft Home, Services and Contact, then finish one complete inquiry journey on staging before the public launch.
