What the master stage catches

Resolve gives the operator one place to conform mixed source resolutions, choose the timeline raster, check framing, normalize color, repair audio, add captions, and control export. It also separates an editorial approval file from the final delivery encode.

That distinction prevents a common failure: an AI app outputs an MP4 labeled 4K, the producer sends it directly, and the client discovers a wrong frame rate, missing captions, clipped audio, unexpected color shift, or an incompatible codec. None of those problems is solved by generating more pixels.

How to choose the right 4K video stack

Start with the statement of work, not the model leaderboard.

If the contract requires native 4K source

Use Google Veo 3.1 directly for the clearest per-second economics, or use Veo inside Magnific when a no-code review and asset workflow matters more than the lowest unit price. Reserve the native-4K rate for approved concepts or pass the attempt allowance through to the quote.

If the client only requires a 4K final master

Approve motion and composition at 1080p where practical. Use Topaz Video, Adobe Firefly with Topaz Astra, Magnific, or Runway for the upscale, then master in DaVinci Resolve. The 4K output must receive its own visual approval because the upscale can alter texture and edges.

If the shot needs a heavy grade or composite

Avoid any “4K quality” plan that does not explain the route

Avoid native 4K for every draft
