About this prompt pack

Eight square prompts show you how to direct surreal scenes through practical stage logic: scenic flats, miniatures, forced scale, trapdoors, fly systems, moving panoramas, and multi-plane alignment. The set moves from one readable mechanism to a four-plane composite, so you can reuse the method in campaign stills, editorial art, product scenes, and concept work.

What you'll learn

  • Painted ocean — Start with one readable stage trick. Layered flats create depth, while casters, ropes, and the curling canvas edge make the construction part of the art direction.
  • Foreground city — Turn scale into a ratio, a distance, and a sightline. The foreground miniature and distant full-size subject only become one city from the locked camera position.
  • Scale cascade — Repeat one prop system at full, half, and quarter scale. The tapered table and accelerated floor grid give the depth change enough evidence to hold.
  • Ames room — Change the room before you change the body. A raked floor, slanted ceiling, and distorted panels create the size split while both figures stay anatomically normal.
  • Trapdoor bloom — Give an oversized subject a load path. The lift, segmented stem, cane ribs, and guide cables make the bloom feel heavy enough to enter the room.
  • Fly system — Suspension works when every object has a support and all supports share a direction. The rising diagonal keeps a complex rig readable as one composition.
  • Rolling night — Move the world instead of the subject. Three scenery layers travel at different rates while the carriage stays sharp, which creates speed through practical parallax.
  • Four-plane city — Combine the full system: miniature foreground, full-size room, rolling panorama, suspended moon, and one staircase built at three scales. One camera axis makes the pieces agree.
