Gamma AI Review

Gamma is a strong choice when you need a deck, a visual document and a one-page site from the same business story. This Gamma AI review recommends it for recurring work you can deliver as a link or an inspected export; its Free plan starts with 400 AI credits, but a client-ready file still needs your judgment.

Gamma is a visual publishing workspace: give its AI agent your notes, files or instructions, then refine the resulting presentation, document or webpage through chat and direct editing. It also makes social visuals and images. The useful combination is content structure, layout and delivery in the same place, especially when a consultant or marketer needs several formats from one approved story. Gamma: one workspace for several business formats

Verified against Gamma's live product pages, pricing and help documentation on 19 October 2026. This is a documentation-based evaluation, not a hands-on export benchmark. The verdict turns on four criteria: control over the message, brand consistency, editability after handoff and predictable repeat usage. The recipes below are worked examples to follow, not claimed test results.

Gamma 5 matters here. Its current editor adds a fixed canvas and freeform placement alongside AI editing. Treating Gamma as a tool that only produces tall, automatically flowing cards misses the current product. Older files can still open in the classic editor, so a familiar deck and a new project may behave differently. Gamma 5 announcement, canvas documentation.

Gamma AI Review: Who Should Use It?

Gamma fits founders, consultants and marketers whose recurring problem is turning approved material into something people can read, present or open in a browser. It is particularly attractive when you own the final delivery format. It is less attractive when a client dictates a reusable PowerPoint template and expects future editing to happen entirely inside it.

A founder preparing an investor update needs the argument and evidence to land. A consultant preparing a pilot proposal needs the scope and next decision to stay clear. A marketer turning the same launch brief into a sales deck and a campaign page needs consistency across formats. Those are sensible Gamma jobs.

This comparison is an editorial match between each vendor's documented workflow and the reader's job, not a quality ranking from generated samples.

Beautiful.ai, a presentation builder with adaptive slide layouts, deserves a look when colleagues keep rebuilding or altering the same approved sales material. Its team offering documents locked themes, reusable slides and shared asset libraries. That is a concrete reason to compare it with Gamma's file-based theme workflow. For a solo consultant who only needs consistent colors and fonts, switching solely for governance adds a requirement the work may not have. Beautiful.ai team controls.

Prezi, a presentation platform with an open, zoomable canvas, fits a workshop where the conversation determines which topic comes next. A strategy overview can keep the relationship between problems, options and actions visible. Choose it for that presentation format. A conventional proposal that must circulate as an editable slide file does not gain much merely from adding motion. Prezi product overview.

If the non-negotiable deliverable is the client's existing PowerPoint or Google Slides template, keep that native file as the source of truth. Gamma's missing exported slide masters, explained below, are more consequential than how appealing its first draft looks. The Gamma alternatives guide compares the replacement workflows in more detail.

Gamma AI Presentation Workflow: Start With an Approved Story

Gamma earns its place when you provide the business substance and use the agent to organize and design it. A vague topic gives the system too many decisions about your audience, evidence and offer.

Use one working brief throughout: a consultant selling a customer-onboarding pilot to a software company. The source material is a discovery-call summary, an approved scope and a brand deck. The required output is a concise decision deck, followed by a written proposal and a public service page. This is an illustrative brief, not a client engagement or a generation performed for this review.

Gamma presentations page with examples of pitch decks, proposals and onboarding presentations
Gamma presentations: the format for the live decision

Before: “Make a presentation about improving customer onboarding.” That instruction does not say who decides, what is approved or which evidence is available.

After: “Create an eight-slide proposal for a software company's operations lead. The decision is whether to approve the onboarding pilot described in the attached scope. Use the supplied facts only. Separate the current problem, proposed work, responsibilities, evidence and next decision. Preserve the approved scope wording. Leave any missing evidence out. Use the attached brand material and keep each slide focused on one decision or claim.”

The improvement is in the brief: it gives the agent a job and boundaries. It does not promise that every generated claim will be correct.

  1. Choose Plan when the story still needs agreement

Start from the dashboard's prompt bar and attach the source material. Choose Plan in the mode picker so Gamma asks clarifying questions and shows its proposed story before building. Express skips that review. Research can gather web sources, but works with Plan rather than Express. For an approved client scope, additional web research may add less value than staying close to the supplied evidence.

  2. Approve the argument before the layout

Review the plan for the decision, the supporting facts and the order. A proposal should make the requested commitment explicit. Remove any promised result that is not in the source material before accepting the plan.

  3. Use your own evidence and images

Upload approved visuals through the prompt bar's + > Upload Files control. A product screenshot or a supplied process diagram can substantiate the pitch; a decorative generated image cannot establish that the product works.

  4. Correct one problem at a time

In AI editing mode, select the element that needs work and give a narrow instruction. For example: “Keep the scope wording unchanged. Reorganize this slide so responsibilities are easier to compare.” Review the Original and Modified views before keeping the change.

These controls come from Gamma's Agent creation guide and AI editing guide. The classic generator remains available, but its Generate/Paste/Import walkthrough is a different route from the new conversational flow.

The craft bar is straightforward: the deck should make the decision easier without inventing evidence. If a slide merely repeats the title in several decorative boxes, delete the repetition. If the proposal contains an unsupported saving, remove it rather than polishing its chart. Gamma can help arrange a claim; the owner of the work must justify it.

Documents: Give the Reader a Decision, Not a Longer Deck

Gamma works well for a visual proposal when the recipient needs enough context to decide without hearing you present. Its documents workflow accepts source text and files, supports direct or AI editing, and lets you share a web link or export a PDF. Gamma documents.

Gamma documents: a self-contained version of the same story

For the onboarding pilot, the deck's short “Responsibilities” slide becomes a written explanation of who provides access, who owns approvals and what is outside scope. Keep the approved offer, but add the connective explanation a reader cannot hear from a presenter.

Before: a deck full of short fragments, delivered to someone who missed the meeting. After: a proposal that explains the problem, the proposed work, the inputs you need and the next decision in complete sentences. This is the editorial transformation to ask for, not simply “make the slides longer.”

The layout choice matters. Gamma's fluid setting grows the page to hold content; fixed slides preserve the frame and scale content down when it runs long. Use fluid layout for reading and fixed layout for a presentation that must keep a consistent shape. Gamma layout behavior.

A sensible instruction is: “Turn this approved proposal into a self-contained document. Keep scope and responsibilities unchanged. Explain the context between sections, and remove language that assumes a speaker is present.” Then read it from the recipient's perspective: can they understand what they are being asked to approve without opening another file?

The PDF is a separate delivery check. Gamma documents that PDF exports are static; they are not fillable or interactive forms. If the proposal needs a response, provide a clear next action instead of relying on an embedded interaction surviving the download. Gamma export documentation.

One-Page Sites: Publish the Offer and Inspect the Journey

Gamma is useful for a focused service page when the job is to explain an offer and give the visitor a next step. Its website workflow can start from a prompt, outline, deck or document, with embedded forms or video, mobile preview and publishing to a Gamma subdomain or an eligible custom domain. Gamma websites.

Gamma websites: adapt the offer for a public reader

The onboarding proposal contains private client context. A public page needs a different edit: remove client names, internal problems and negotiated commitments; keep the type of problem you solve, the shape of the service and the evidence you are allowed to publish.

A useful page sequence is the buyer's problem, the offer, the deliverables, the evidence and the next action. That is a recommendation for this brief, not a required Gamma template. Do not copy the deck's presentation order automatically. A visitor arriving from a search result needs to recognize the offer before they care about the consultant's backstory.

Ask Gamma to build from the approved public copy, apply the brand theme, then preview the mobile view. Open the published page and complete its intended journey yourself: read the offer, follow the button, submit the form if there is one, and check what the visitor receives next.

The ship-ready question is whether the whole journey works. A polished page that sends an interested prospect to an unclear form is unfinished. For a larger website project, write down the requirements beyond this page before treating quick page generation as proof that the platform covers the entire project.

Brand Control and Fine Editing: More Freedom, More Maintenance

Gamma now gives you both structured grids and freeform placement, so the useful criticism is no longer that every detail is trapped in an automatic layout. The tradeoff is how much manual control you want to maintain as content changes. Gamma canvas guide.

A grid keeps content in proportional sections that adjust around each other. A freeform box holds an exact position on the canvas and can be resized or rotated. For the pilot proposal, keep repeated evidence-and-explanation slides in a grid; use freeform placement when a particular visual needs a precise relationship to its caption.

Build the brand into the file before polishing individual slides

Gamma's themes control colors, fonts, logos and other styling, including typography settings such as line height and letter spacing. Theme import can read a PowerPoint or Google Slides file, then lets you review the detected colors, fonts and logo. That is a useful starting point, not a reason to skip the review screen. Gamma theme documentation.

Gamma themes: styling is reusable, but updates need attention

For the same consultant brief, the correction sequence should be specific. Before: a proposal using an attractive default theme that does not match the approved brand. After: a proposal using the approved typography, colors and imagery, with the scope wording preserved. This describes the target iteration, not a generated result observed here.

  1. Import and inspect the existing brand

Go to Customize > Themes > + New Theme > Import file and supply a PPTX or Google Slides file. Review the detected settings before saving. Gamma's theme importer does not accept a PDF or document as a substitute for this workflow.

  2. Apply the approved theme to each deliverable

Use Styles > Theme > Apply theme preset. If you refined a file's theme and want to reuse it, choose Styles > Theme > Save as to save it to the workspace.

  3. Separate copy approval from visual adjustment

Select the element and ask for a layout-only correction with the approved wording preserved. Compare Original and Modified. For a tiny spacing correction, direct manual editing may be easier to judge than another broad request.

The maintenance limit is significant: Gamma 5 themes live on each file. Editing a file theme changes that file, and changing the saved workspace theme does not automatically refresh the detached theme in every existing document. A rebrand therefore needs a deliberate pass through the proposal, deck and site. Saving the new preset is only part of the job.

There is another small but concrete editing limit: after converting a grid block to freeform, you cannot convert it back into a grid through a reverse command. Gamma advises using Undo immediately if the conversion was accidental. Make that change when exact positioning is needed. Gamma freeform limits.

What It Costs for Weekly Client Work

Gamma Plus is $9 per seat per month, billed $108 annually, for removing Gamma branding and 1,000 monthly credits; Pro is $18 per seat per month, billed $216 annually, for custom branding, detailed analytics, 4,000 monthly credits and up to 10 custom domains. These are the annual-billing prices on Gamma's live pricing page, before applicable tax; the complete ladder lives in our Gamma pricing guide.

Gamma pricing: choose around the required brand and delivery features

For a consultant delivering branded proposals and a site on their own domain, Pro is the relevant starting point. Plus is enough to consider when the requirement is simply to remove Gamma's badge and work within its lower credit allocation. Paying for Pro solely to remove the badge would buy more than that requirement needs.

Here is a limited cost-per-outcome calculation: at an illustrative four finished deliverables a month, the Pro annual subscription divided across 48 deliverables is $4.50 each. That is subscription allocation, not a measured generation price. It excludes labor, tax and extra credits, and does not establish how many drafts your allowance will cover. The inputs are the published annual fee and the explicitly assumed workload.

Gamma AI Free and Paid Credits: What Gets Metered

Gamma credits meter AI work, including generation per slide and image, Agent edits, added cards and layout experiments. The charge varies with the action, model and complexity; image generation and editing show the model's credit cost before you proceed. A credit balance is not a guaranteed number of finished decks. Gamma credit guide.

Gamma credits: the revision cycle counts as usage too

The rules that matter for weekly work are:

  • Free credits do not refill. The starter balance is a limited allowance for evaluating your workflow. Free users can earn additional credits through referrals.
  • Paid allocations refill monthly, including on annual subscriptions. Unused plan credits can roll over until the balance reaches twice the monthly allocation.
  • Purchased credits are separate. They do not count toward that rollover cap. Gamma draws plan credits first, then purchased credits, then shared workspace credits where the plan provides them.
  • Individual-plan credits are per person. An unused colleague's allowance is not a freely transferable pot. Business and Enterprise workspaces have separate pooling provisions.
  • Running out does not stop manual editing. Paid users retain non-AI features and can buy more credits. Gamma says AI errors and clarification requests are not charged.

For your own trial, record the balance before starting the pilot deck and after the approved deck, document and page are finished. Include image replacements and revisions. That difference answers a useful question: what does your entire recurring package consume?

You can inspect paid balances, the refresh date and rollover cap under Settings > Billing. Avoid estimating usage from the first generation alone; the correction loop belongs in the budget too.

Limitations That Still Decide the Purchase

Gamma's most consequential limits appear after the first attractive draft: when another person edits the export, when the brand changes, or when a broad AI revision needs partial approval. None is solved by generating more slides.

Gamma AI PPT Export: A File Is Not a Reusable Template

Gamma can export PowerPoint files, and the current documentation describes editable tables and embedded fonts. It also explicitly says exports do not include a slide master layout. A slide master is the reusable layout structure behind a presentation template. Your individual slides can retain styling while PowerPoint's Slide Master or Google Slides' Theme Builder remains blank. Gamma export guide.

Gamma export: inspect the editable structure as well as the appearance

That distinction matters when a client asks for “the editable deck.” They may mean “I can change this sentence,” or they may mean “my team can keep building new slides in our approved template.” Ask which deliverable they expect before investing in the Gamma version. A clean-looking exported deck does not satisfy both definitions automatically.

Google Slides Substitutes Embedded PowerPoint Fonts

Gamma embeds theme fonts into PPTX, including uploaded fonts; its documentation also says Gamma 5 carries through font choices applied to individual text selections. But Google Slides ignores fonts embedded in an uploaded PPTX and substitutes its own. This is a destination constraint, so “the export includes fonts” does not settle the Google Slides outcome. Gamma font-export details.

The documented Google Slides route is to export a PPTX and upload it to Slides. For that destination, inspect heading wraps, captions and dense tables in Slides itself. If exact typography is essential and editing is unnecessary, consider the PDF deliverable instead. Gamma documents embedded PDF fonts, while a PNG is a flat image.

Editable Tables and Visual Effects Have Tradeoffs

Gamma exports tables as editable tables by default on all plans. Their corners become square in PowerPoint and Google Slides. Turning off Editable tables preserves the older non-editable visual approach, which may suit appearance over later changes. Gradient headings and frosted effects can also change in export.

These are specific differences to review, not evidence that every deck breaks. The practical export recipe is Share > Export > All cards > PowerPoint, followed by opening the result in the destination application. Preview in Present Mode before export, then check a dense slide, a table, a brand-font heading and the speaker notes. Gamma documents notes support; confirm that the notes you intended to hand over are the ones in the file.

AI Revisions Are Accepted as a Whole Request

Gamma's Original/Modified comparison helps you review revisions, but changes from one request are applied together. You cannot keep selected edits from that request and reject the rest individually through that approval step. Gamma revision controls.

For the pilot proposal, do not combine “shorten the scope, change the theme and reorganize responsibilities” into one instruction if those changes need separate approval. Scope the request to one decision. Otherwise, a good layout correction and an unwanted wording change arrive in the same acceptance bundle.

The Badge Depends on Your Plan When You Export

Gamma adds its badge to PDF and PPTX exports when the workspace is on Free at export time, even if the document was originally made while the workspace was paid. A past paid subscription does not permanently make future exports badge-free. Active paid plans remove the badge from future exports; previously downloaded files are not changed. Gamma export and badge rules.

For recurring client work, that makes the delivery date relevant to your subscription decision. Keep the actual approved deliverables, not just the assumption that you can reproduce the same export after a downgrade.

Verdict: Buy Around the Finished Deliverable

Gamma is worth shortlisting when your weekly work spans decks, visual documents and simple pages, and you can review the final result before anyone else depends on it. Its newer editing controls make precise corrections more plausible; its export and theme rules still demand an owner for quality.

Using Gamma AI for Presentation Handoffs

Choose Gamma when a reviewed link or inspected export is the finished product. Keep the client's native presentation workflow when reusable master layouts are part of the deliverable. That is the decision rule, rather than a general claim that one editor replaces another.

On Monday, use one existing brief to evaluate Gamma: supply approved content, finish the deck, produce the needed companion format, and have the recipient edit the exported file. Record the total correction effort and credit use. A quick first draft earns a trial; a dependable finished handoff earns the subscription.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Gamma AI better than ChatGPT?

For this decision, compare the finished artifact rather than treating “better” as an intelligence ranking. Gamma provides a dedicated creation, design and publishing workflow. If you already have an approved outline from another tool, the useful question is whether Gamma makes the final deck or page easier to deliver. No head-to-head reasoning benchmark was performed for this review.

Is Gamma AI safe to use?

Check the account's data controls before uploading confidential client material. Gamma says individual Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra workspaces allow content to be used for AI training by default, with an opt-out under Settings > Data Controls. Organizational settings differ. A paid individual subscription alone does not imply training is disabled. Gamma data-control documentation.

Is there anything better than Gamma AI?

Yes, for a different requirement. Beautiful.ai's reusable, protected team slides deserve comparison when brand governance is the problem; Prezi deserves comparison when a zoomable live explanation is the goal. If the client requires a particular native master template, keep that template workflow. None of those needs means every Gamma user should switch.

Is Gamma AI really free?

Yes. Gamma has a Free plan, but its signup credits do not refill. PDF and PPTX exports from a Free workspace carry Gamma's badge. Free access and unlimited ongoing AI production are different things.

Is Gamma AI actually good?

It is a compelling fit for repeated visual business communication when you supply the facts and inspect the output. The strongest reason to use it is the combined creation, editing and delivery workflow. It is a weaker fit when perfect downstream template structure is the deciding requirement.

How much is Gamma AI per month?

Use the Plus/Pro decision line in the cost section above, and check the billing selection on Gamma's pricing page. The rates quoted here are monthly equivalents of annual invoices, not month-to-month checkout prices. Our linked pricing guide covers the full plan comparison.

Is a Gamma subscription worth it?

For weekly work, judge the effort required to reach an approved deliverable, including revisions and export cleanup. Pro makes sense when its brand or domain features solve an actual requirement. If you only need badge removal, compare Plus first.

How can I get Gamma AI for free?

Create a Free account through Gamma's website. It includes starter AI credits, and Gamma documents a referral route for earning more. The balance does not automatically reset each month.

What is the limit of Gamma AI?

There are separate limits. The live pricing page lists up to 10 slides per prompt on Free and up to 100 on Plus. Credit usage also limits AI work, while features such as custom branding depend on the plan. A per-prompt slide cap is not a guarantee of that many completed, revised presentations. Gamma's current limits.

Who owns Gamma AI?

Gamma's privacy policy identifies the company operating the product as Gamma Tech, Inc. That establishes the vendor's legal identity, not a breakdown of its shareholders. Gamma company identity.
